unintended ucceleration or just premature journalism?

@autoblog: seriously? at least jalopnik is a little more cautious.

as both an automotive guru and a computer guru, i've spent my fair share of time tuning cars. and i'll call it now - any link between that tsb and unintended acceleration is bogus.  it looks like toyota was trying to fix a driveability problem where at very light throttle / light load, the car would oscillate between on/off (surge/buck). the problem was probably caused by the epa assholes in the first place, but that aside, the problem was probably fixed by richening the mixture in the problem cells.

on the bright side, this might encourage automakers to get it right the first rather than succumbing to the beta culture...

the real intended consequences of the toyota scare hoax

2/12: gm issues press release in favor of black box mandate.

3/16: texas legislator gene green forgets what state he's from and proposes the same.

saw it coming a mile a way.  always follow the power grab. the next step is connecting the black boxes to a central grid.  a smart grid.  something like this.  or this

Just. Say. No.

unintended acceleration hoax fuels unintended consequences

since the news broke about toyota's supposed unintended acceleration woes, it seems a day can't go by without another dolt plowing "uncontrollably" through traffic. even scam artists and comedy cameramen are vying for a piece of the action at toyota's expense.

and yours. and mine.
