ATM Jackpot: Another Blackhat/Defcon Talk Blocked

Instead of letting the information get out in the open and merely being a blip on the news radar, and getting a fix out as soon as you can... [Attempt to] block it and make damn sure it becomes a major headline.

Brilliant.

These people will never learn...

Finally: Proof of an Apple Tablet on the Horizon

The folks at Gizmodo stumbled upon an Apple patent for identifying "fingerprint signature" gestures. That is, the device (presumably, an iPhone) will identify which finger you're using in a gesture (swipe, touch, etc) and behave accordingly.

What everybody fails to realize is you're holding the iPhone in your hand and typically only have one finger (your thumb) to use it... A tablet, or other large touch screen device, you'll be using your whole hand to grope, massage, and swipe across.

This patent signals to me that it's finally on the way.

Mass Transportation

As I Sit Here Awaiting Yet Another Delayed Flight, I reflect at the sheer and utter stupidity of the idea of mass transportation.

Who came up with the idea of herding masses into containers and shipping them all from location to location? You can bet it's not the people actually riding mass transit. They still have enjoy their cars, their fancy jets, and of course their fancy carbon footprints.

They'll just guilt tax us out of ours so they can reduce our mobility and increase our trackability.

But it's ok. We don't need the freedom to leave a place at a whim uncontrolled and without ID checks. We don't need the freedom to change our minds about where we're going or when, or simply go somewhere for no reason at all. It's okay to let them track everything.

I need to quit thinking. Will this damn flight ever take off?

Credit Card Bill of Rights

What's up with this stupid credit card bill of rights that just got signed?

What's next? A dine-out bill of rights? A private jet ownership bill of rights? An erotic massage bill of rights?

What gives the government the right to legislate how a sector of business operates? I see nothing wrong with how credit cards operated before. There was nothing deceptive. If you were too stupid to read the fine print, they did you a favor by teaching you a lesson. You won't make the mistake twice.

Now those of us who were smart enough to read the fine print got screwed. Thanks.
